Walsh divorce finalized with coin toss
02/09/2010
Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice actress Kate Walsh has finalized her divorce from movie executive Alex Young - and they plan to split their assets by tossing a coin.
Young filed for divorce from the 42-year-old in 2008, citing irreconcilable differences. They'd been married for 14 months and had no kids together.
Walsh gets to keep their LA home, various bank accounts and a piano as part of the divorce settlement, while Young receives $627,000 and one half of the cash made from the work his ex-wife carried out while they were together.
Their divorce settlement continues: "One half of the community property furniture and artwork [is] to be divided by alternating picks after the flip of a coin to determine who will pick first."
When the couple's divorce was first announced, they issued a statement claiming they were still on "friendly terms", but there have since been reports that mutual restraining orders preventing each from harassing the other were put in place after their separation.
Court documents also show that Young wanted to get several million dollars out of his divorce settlement instead of the considerably smaller sum he ended up with.
